Men have long gravitated toward wearing button down shirts untucked.  There is, after all, a certain statement a man can make by simply untucking his shirt: shifting from thoughtfully tidy to thoughtfully casual.  An editor of a fashion magazine once said of the untucked look, "It is a style that wouldn't work in the boardroom, but pretty much anywhere else it would look really cool."  Most men would agree.  If only it were that easy. See below to see Founder Chris Riccobono's tips and techniques to improve your untucked look.

Tip #1: Length Matters
When it comes to wearing your shirt untucked, length matters.  If the shirt is too long you'll do yourself any number of fashion disservices, the end result of which is that you'll almost undoubtedly look sloppy.  Why?  Well, for two reasons really.  First, you kill the shape and style of the other half of your outfit, your pants.  And second, because you change the visible proportions of your body...butchering the 'divine proportions' made famous by Da Vinci's Vitruvian man.  So what is the optimal length? Well we here at UNTUCKit wanted to answer the same question.  So we conducted an extensive survey among women ranging from their early 20s to mid 40s, showing them 10 pictures of a model wearing an untucked shirt falling at different lengths. Women showed an overwhelming preference for shirts that 'fell' in the middle of the zipper that exposed some of the pant pockets, which is what we've coined as the 'zone of acceptable length'.

Tip #2: Redefined smart casual by pairing an untucked shirt with a 'fitted' sports coat
Do not buy into the theory "wearing your shirt untucked is a sloppy look".  See Tip #1 to avoid this mousetrap.  In fact, pairing an untucked shirt with a 'fitted' sports coat and a dark pair of jeans can rock the smart casual look.  The key is to make sure the shirt lines up with the bottom of the coat but does not hang below it.
Tip #3. More than plaid can be untucked
Many people think just casual shirts and plaids can be worn untucked.  This is not the case. UNTUCKit offer some extremely high quality fabrics that when worn untucked look great.  One of my favorite formal "untucked" looks it to wear an untucked shirt with a v-neck and a sports jacket. The length of the shirt needs to be about an inch longer than the v-neck and an inch shorter than the blazer.

Tip #4: Avoid Square Bottom Shirts
Outside of t-shirts, polos, and henleys, shirts should generally not have a square bottom. We're not saying there's no place in this world for square bottom shirts, but it's usually reserved for Cuban guayaberas and owners of sugar cane plantations. Caveat: for any reader who is currently wearing a square bottom...I'm sure it looks good on you!

Ladies, fall is here and it’s the time of the year where we all kind of struggle to find the right trends. Fall in Montreal gets quite intense, but I’m here to save your fashion season this year with a few options and tips for you to apply.
Let me show you a few cheap ways to get real cozy & trendy this fall in Montreal:

Business Casual

Business casual is the best way to be trendy with a touch of professionalism this fall. It’s not complicated to put all together and it’s quite cheap if the pieces are found at the right spots. Hop in the subway and head downtown towards H&M, Simons or Zara for easy pick ups.

Cheap & prefered pieces – White long sleeve shirt, cardigan and black skinny trousers.
Tip – You can keep the cardigan open on top to show your shirt’s collar. It’s a nice little touch and adds professionalism. High boots are also a great add-on.

Fashionista

We have tons of fashionistas in this city. For most of these young montrealers, it’s hard to keep up to date with how much fashion actually costs. The fashionista is most seen running the arts scene of his/her city and dresses between designer and common brands.

Cheap & prefered pieces – Long sleeved jersey at H&M, Zara black sweats or ripped H&M black jeans, black boots found anywhere in Montreal.
Tips – Distressed clothing is the best kind of clothing. Don’t be shy to wear oversized sweaters or shirts, if it mixes with your outfit properly, it’s probably nice.

Preppy

Preppy should feel very close to business casual. However, being a real preppy girl requires a nice touch of “school mixed with business“. The skirt is always a great option if you are trying to fully reach the preppy zone.

Cheap & prefered pieces – Skirt and cute little boots are a thumbs up. A nice mix of colors or all black is a great path to take as well.
Tips – Getting the right preppy look often comes down to being very structural in its clothing choice. Tight cuts, always. Give your outfit a clean structure.

Street Style

My personal favorite. A mix of fashionistas, but with a street touch to it all. If you are an individual who travels through the city from meetings to meetings, projects to projects you’ll enjoy this trend.

Cheap & prefered pieces – Jeans jacket, black high top boots, black skinny jeans and insane sneakers.
Tips – Street style is all about mixing styles. Use your knowledge of preppy/business casual vibe and mix it with a bit of trashness to get the right street style look. Also, please make sure you have proper sneakers if you are about to run the streets !

Sporty

Sports wear is great when properly applied during fall season. It is one of the coolest and most comfortable style you can have in your wardrobe.

Cheap & prefered pieces – Well cut black hoodie, long coat (H&M, Zara & Simons for cheap), warm black leggings, beige boots (yes, like the ones Drake is wearing in Hot Line Bling).
Tips – My suggestion to you is to keep it all under one color. If you go for a black hoodie, go for black sneakers and black leggings. It’ll look pretty darn good !

Before we head into full-on sweater weather, now is the time to layer up your look so that you can easily transition from an afternoon in the sun to the cool crispness of an evening out.
But how can you look hot this fall without making your wallet sweat? Here are six stylish fall fashion tips to instantly add some seasonal flair to your outfit.
1. Vest
Nothing beats a vest for the way that it keeps your torso warm while leaving your arms unencumbered. Indeed it has become a seasonal staple, and with a wide variety of styles and fabrics on offer there’s almost and endless array to choose from. Whether you opt for texture or a fringe in order to make a statement, or go for a more subtle option that blends into your ensemble; it’s the perfect piece for combining style and comfort. Vests also often come with pockets (always a plus), and can be made even warmer by adding a scarf on top.

2. Poncho
Ponchos are a huge trend this season – they’ve been modified for convenience so there is no need to pull them over your head and risk messing up your hair. They’re basically equivalent to wrapping a cozy blanket around yourself, but cut in a way so they don’t fall off your shoulders. These are an easy option to throw on top of anything from a tank top to a light sweater, adding an instant injection of style to wardrobe basics.

3. Plaid shirt
A plaid shirt, often made out of flannel, is another easy piece that can work in various ways. It can be worn buttoned up, open with a tank top or thin turtleneck underneath, or even act as a light covering if it’s long. The check pattern and multi-colours give it interest while also making it easy to match with whatever other coloured pieces you’re wearing. The flannel also makes it soft and cozy against the skin.

4. Floppy hat
The ’70s are back in a big way this fall season, and a quick and inexpensive way to incorporate this latest trend into your look is by wearing a floppy felt hat. They can be dressed up or down, adding a chic finishing touch while keeping your head warm and concealing even the baddest of bad hair days. Not to mention they’re a lifesaver if a sudden sprinkling of rain appears (which never happens in Vancouver, ahem).

5. Long cardigan
Long open cardigans have been an ever present over the past few fall seasons, and continue to be popular for good reason. They’re easy to throw on top of everything, and act like a long sweater coat. They also keep you warm, while the open front means they don’t become too stuffy and can quickly be taken off if need be.

6. Sweater dress
There’s no easier way to look pulled together than wearing a sweater dress. They only take a moment to put on and show off your curves without being too clingy. Throw on a simple necklace and a pair of knee-high boots, and you’re out the door. Besides being made of wool, which can get a bit warm, sweater dresses can also come in sweatshirt material or denim for a more casual look.

5 Ways To Style Winter Clothes In Late Summer

Summer is usually not sweater weather, but that doesn't mean your favorite knits have to collect dust all season long. There are plenty of different ways to wear winter clothes in the summer, especially late summer. Sure, the remnants of seasonal heat and humidity are justifiable reasons to avoid any piece of clothing that might make you hot. So we usually get dressed in the lightest, most breathable pieces we own because no one wants to sweat the day away. Your favorite rainbow faux fur jacket and that cashmere sweater dress you rocked last fall shouldn't have to be neglected, though.
If I had it my way, it would be autumn all year round. I absolutely hate everything about summer weather, from the beating sun on my face to feeling like I'm perpetually walking through a sauna. I love dressing for cooler weather, so come summertime it's important to me to still reach for my sweaters. You might call me crazy and illogical, but I like experimenting with sweaters and finding creative ways to wear them sans my favorite pair of wool leggings.
In an effort to inspire your late summer style with your favorite winter wardrobe pieces, and to give you proof that you can rock wool and cashmere this August and September and still look totally cool, here are seven ways to wear your favorite winter clothing items in the summer.

1. Sweater & High-Waisted Shorts

High-waisted shorts are a staple in most people's summer wardrobe because of their modern yet retro vibes and easy-to-wear-with-anything power. That goes for styling your favorite winter sweater as well.
Even though you might be inclined to wear the sweater with a layer beneath itin case you get a bit warm, it’s best to wear it your light sweater alone this time of year. Pair it with your favorite denim shorts, and voila. The shorts balance out the long sleeves, but also make it so that you don’t burn up if you do catch some sun. Plus, doesn’t this combination just exude California cool? Throw on some dark sunglasses and a pair of strappy sandals and you’re basically an L.A. girl already.

2. Bomber Jacket & Jeans

A clothing item that has warmth to it yet is light in style can certainly be worn all year long with some extra attention — provided you get a few chilly summer nights of course.
Most of us love a good pair of jeans, and jeans almost always look fabulous with a basic combination. What gets more basic than a tank top? I always recommend a third piece, though, and for that there's nothing quite better than a beloved bomber jacket. A quilted version like mine will not only add some extra pizazz to an outfit but will also keep you warm on those cool summer nights when the breeze picks up or the rain refuses to let out. Or, you know, when the air conditioning is too cold for you.

3. Long Sleeve Shirt & Maxi Skirt

Maxi skirts, like my gray tulip version, look great with basic long sleeves with the cuffs rolled up. The skirt and the shirt mesh well instead of competing against each other. Plus, what’s more comfortable than a cotton outfit? Say no to itchy clothes this end-of-summer season.

4. Long Sleeve Button Down & Leggings

Just like shorts, leggings have become a year-round staple. No one can deny their comfort or ease, so they obviously make perfect summer pieces. Now, just pair them with the crisp button-down you usually save for cold autumn mornings and your summer ensemble is set.
The long sleeves on this blouse balance out the thin and narrow fit of the leggings. While it’s definitely a more casual combination, it can be dressed up with heels and cute personalized jewelry. The baggy fit of the blouse allows for a good amount of airiness so you don’t feel suffocated by the collar or long sleeves. Since you’re wearing leggings, you'll basically be the most comfortable human being on Earth.

5. Sweater & Mini Skirt

What I like about this sweater is the short sleeves that end near my elbows that aren’t too overbearing in the hot temperatures. Plus, it looks great and feels comfortable with this mini skirt.
A lighter, cropped sweater like this looks just as chic with more voluminous skirts as it does with fitted ones. Any skirt that gives you balance and harmony with the sweater is a pretty good go-to.
Now excuse me while I carry on my merry end-of-summer way in a brilliant fleece and short shorts. There really is no better combo.
