Men have long gravitated toward wearing button down shirts untucked.  There is, after all, a certain statement a man can make by simply untucking his shirt: shifting from thoughtfully tidy to thoughtfully casual.  An editor of a fashion magazine once said of the untucked look, "It is a style that wouldn't work in the boardroom, but pretty much anywhere else it would look really cool."  Most men would agree.  If only it were that easy. See below to see Founder Chris Riccobono's tips and techniques to improve your untucked look.

Tip #1: Length Matters
When it comes to wearing your shirt untucked, length matters.  If the shirt is too long you'll do yourself any number of fashion disservices, the end result of which is that you'll almost undoubtedly look sloppy.  Why?  Well, for two reasons really.  First, you kill the shape and style of the other half of your outfit, your pants.  And second, because you change the visible proportions of your body...butchering the 'divine proportions' made famous by Da Vinci's Vitruvian man.  So what is the optimal length? Well we here at UNTUCKit wanted to answer the same question.  So we conducted an extensive survey among women ranging from their early 20s to mid 40s, showing them 10 pictures of a model wearing an untucked shirt falling at different lengths. Women showed an overwhelming preference for shirts that 'fell' in the middle of the zipper that exposed some of the pant pockets, which is what we've coined as the 'zone of acceptable length'.

Tip #2: Redefined smart casual by pairing an untucked shirt with a 'fitted' sports coat
Do not buy into the theory "wearing your shirt untucked is a sloppy look".  See Tip #1 to avoid this mousetrap.  In fact, pairing an untucked shirt with a 'fitted' sports coat and a dark pair of jeans can rock the smart casual look.  The key is to make sure the shirt lines up with the bottom of the coat but does not hang below it.
Tip #3. More than plaid can be untucked
Many people think just casual shirts and plaids can be worn untucked.  This is not the case. UNTUCKit offer some extremely high quality fabrics that when worn untucked look great.  One of my favorite formal "untucked" looks it to wear an untucked shirt with a v-neck and a sports jacket. The length of the shirt needs to be about an inch longer than the v-neck and an inch shorter than the blazer.

Tip #4: Avoid Square Bottom Shirts
Outside of t-shirts, polos, and henleys, shirts should generally not have a square bottom. We're not saying there's no place in this world for square bottom shirts, but it's usually reserved for Cuban guayaberas and owners of sugar cane plantations. Caveat: for any reader who is currently wearing a square bottom...I'm sure it looks good on you!

PHOTO: Timeless fashion tips can help to turn your old clothes into new items for fall.
The summer is unofficially over after Labor Day and before you know it, the leaves will be turning brown. You know what that means -- it's soon time to break out the old sweaters.
If you hate the fact fall is just around the corner, here's the good news -- changing seasons doesn't mean you have to tuck all your favorite summer clothes in the attic.
When Soraya Darabi and Maxine Bédat, the founders of Zady, stopped by "Real Biz with Rebecca Jarvis" to announce their new sustainable clothing label that’s dedicated entirely to timeless fashion, ABC News asked them for timeless fashion tips to dress up your old sweater, and best of all, create fall looks with your beloved beach outfits.
Here's a tip if you do plan to buy new pieces this season and want your clothes to last. It’s important to approach any purchase determining quality over quantity.
"If you're going to look for clothing that can take you through the seasons, you need to make sure these items are made with quality production, otherwise that favorite skirt or dress from the summer won’t make it to the warm days next year," Darabi told Real Biz.
Also, understand your body type, know what looks good on you and stick to the same style. Trends are constantly changing. Rather than trying to keep up with the Kardashians, you’re better off taking a page out of Kate Middleton’s playbook. The Duchess of Cambridge is known to repeat an outfit or two and she’s not afraid to wear the same pieces again and again because she knows what looks good on her.
But let's be honest, most of us can't splurge on a new wardrobe every season.
Here are six timeless fashion tips to turn your old clothes into new items for fall.
1. DON’T RETIRE THE SUMMER SUNDRESS

You can turn your sexy summer sundress into a hot fall fashion statement by simply wearing a pair of tights. If you want to make the look more modern try textured grey leggings.
But the outfit doesn't stop here. "Add your favorite boots, a relaxed blazer, and one great accessory and effortlessly, you'll be good to go in style," Darabi said.
2. DON'T PUT THAT BOYFRIEND SHIRT AWAY!

"We saw a lot of women, ourselves included, taking over-sized shirts and tying them at the waste with a pair of shorts or a full skirt," Bédat said.
Here’s what you can do, pair your shirt with dark denim, an over-sized fall jacket and those same boots that you paired with the dress.
For extra style, push up the sleeves of the jacket to show off your favorite chunky bracelets.
3. THE DISTRESSED JEANS FROM CASUAL TO COCKTAILS

This classic trend made a strong return later in the summer and it came back with a bang.
Take your favorite pair of ankle length skinny ripped jeans, or even your favorite boyfriend jeans, just cuffed a little bit, and tailor with your favorite black pumps, a collared blouse or shirt, and a perfectly fitted blazer. Instantly, this casual look is sharp for after-work cocktails.
4. YOUR FAVORITE SHORTS

Fall Fashion
Pair your tailored shorts with a pair of patterned tights, which are huge for fall this year, a slightly over-sized comfy sweater, an eye-catching necklace, and a great pair of boots— instantly fall appropriate.
5. THE OVERSIZED T

A high-quality t-shirt is essential if you want to wear it year round.
Also comfort is key. Take a loose fitting t-shirt and tie a small knot at the waste to give form to the shirt.
To dress up your look, add a lightweight statement necklace or a wraparound scarf as you see in the picture above. Pair with your favorite relaxed fitting pants with sleek heels for nighttime or for a daytime look, wear a pair of flats.
6. A SWEATER IS FOREVER
PHOTO: Fall FashionZady.com
Fall Fashion
Zady’s founders believe very strongly a sweater is something people can own forever. That’s why the very first item to be made in America for the launch of their private label is a women’s knit wool sweater.
“We're launching our own line with what we hope to be the essential sweater, and then will expand to other products once we feel confident we have created an item for women to own over a lifetime,” Bédat said.
Here’s how you can make your old sweater feel new.
Layer a chunky scarf on top for a weekend casual look. Or add a statement necklace to give it a boost in the evening. If you are going for the more formal business look, try pairing your sweater with a skirt or layer with a collared shirt underneath.

BOOT CUT JEANS
"Jeans should hug you in all the right places," says Jill Martin, author ofFashion for Dummies and a Today contributor. "Dark boot legs are the most flattering. The slight flare at the ankle will give a long, lean appearance." Add a longish top for coverage and a cropped, fitted jacket to nip in your waist.

BODY-LENGTHENING CLOTHES
"Everything should be body skimming," says celebrity stylist Robert Verdi."The most common misconception is that bigger clothes will make you look slimmer." Pile on lightweight vertical pieces (think long cardigans, scarves, necklaces) to build a body-lengthening look without the bulk.

STRUCTURED FABRIC
Dresses made from a structured fabric conceal imperfections, while crisscross detailing visually cinches in your middle. "The shape of the dress has to be hourglass, coming in close to the body and then gently draping out,"says The Biggest Loser stylist Liza Whitcraft. And if you're shy about doughy arms, keep 'em under wraps with a cropped, fitted cardigan.

ACCENTUATE YOUR WAIST
A voluminous white tunic may sound like the antithesis to dressing thinner, but it can be surprisingly flattering. "Define your waist with a skinny belt,"Verdi says. "And the farther you are from the floor, the skinnier you'll look, so wear platform heels." Remember to harness the power of slimming undergarments—they're the sneakiest look-trim trick of all.

Ladies, fall is here and it’s the time of the year where we all kind of struggle to find the right trends. Fall in Montreal gets quite intense, but I’m here to save your fashion season this year with a few options and tips for you to apply.
Let me show you a few cheap ways to get real cozy & trendy this fall in Montreal:
25183950_1560

Business Casual

Business casual is the best way to be trendy with a touch of professionalism this fall. It’s not complicated to put all together and it’s quite cheap if the pieces are found at the right spots. Hop in the subway and head downtown towards H&M, Simons or Zara for easy pick ups.
25183950_1560
Cheap & prefered pieces – White long sleeve shirt, cardigan and black skinny trousers.
Tip – You can keep the cardigan open on top to show your shirt’s collar. It’s a nice little touch and adds professionalism. High boots are also a great add-on.

Winter-Street-Style-2015

Fashionista

We have tons of fashionistas in this city. For most of these young montrealers, it’s hard to keep up to date with how much fashion actually costs. The fashionista is most seen running the arts scene of his/her city and dresses between designer and common brands.
Winter-Street-Style-2015
Cheap & prefered pieces – Long sleeved jersey at H&M, Zara black sweats or ripped H&M black jeans, black boots found anywhere in Montreal.
Tips – Distressed clothing is the best kind of clothing. Don’t be shy to wear oversized sweaters or shirts, if it mixes with your outfit properly, it’s probably nice.

Preppy

Preppy should feel very close to business casual. However, being a real preppy girl requires a nice touch of “school mixed with business“. The skirt is always a great option if you are trying to fully reach the preppy zone.

Cheap & prefered pieces – Skirt and cute little boots are a thumbs up. A nice mix of colors or all black is a great path to take as well.
Tips – Getting the right preppy look often comes down to being very structural in its clothing choice. Tight cuts, always. Give your outfit a clean structure.

Winter-2012-Street-Style

Street Style

My personal favorite. A mix of fashionistas, but with a street touch to it all. If you are an individual who travels through the city from meetings to meetings, projects to projects you’ll enjoy this trend.
Winter-2012-Street-Style
Cheap & prefered pieces – Jeans jacket, black high top boots, black skinny jeans and insane sneakers.
Tips – Street style is all about mixing styles. Use your knowledge of preppy/business casual vibe and mix it with a bit of trashness to get the right street style look. Also, please make sure you have proper sneakers if you are about to run the streets !

large (11)

Sporty

Sports wear is great when properly applied during fall season. It is one of the coolest and most comfortable style you can have in your wardrobe.
large (11)
Cheap & prefered pieces – Well cut black hoodie, long coat (H&M, Zara & Simons for cheap), warm black leggings, beige boots (yes, like the ones Drake is wearing in Hot Line Bling).
Tips – My suggestion to you is to keep it all under one color. If you go for a black hoodie, go for black sneakers and black leggings. It’ll look pretty darn good !

Before we head into full-on sweater weather, now is the time to layer up your look so that you can easily transition from an afternoon in the sun to the cool crispness of an evening out.
But how can you look hot this fall without making your wallet sweat? Here are six stylish fall fashion tips to instantly add some seasonal flair to your outfit.
1. Vest
Nothing beats a vest for the way that it keeps your torso warm while leaving your arms unencumbered. Indeed it has become a seasonal staple, and with a wide variety of styles and fabrics on offer there’s almost and endless array to choose from. Whether you opt for texture or a fringe in order to make a statement, or go for a more subtle option that blends into your ensemble; it’s the perfect piece for combining style and comfort. Vests also often come with pockets (always a plus), and can be made even warmer by adding a scarf on top.

2. Poncho
Ponchos are a huge trend this season – they’ve been modified for convenience so there is no need to pull them over your head and risk messing up your hair. They’re basically equivalent to wrapping a cozy blanket around yourself, but cut in a way so they don’t fall off your shoulders. These are an easy option to throw on top of anything from a tank top to a light sweater, adding an instant injection of style to wardrobe basics.

3. Plaid shirt
A plaid shirt, often made out of flannel, is another easy piece that can work in various ways. It can be worn buttoned up, open with a tank top or thin turtleneck underneath, or even act as a light covering if it’s long. The check pattern and multi-colours give it interest while also making it easy to match with whatever other coloured pieces you’re wearing. The flannel also makes it soft and cozy against the skin.

4. Floppy hat
The ’70s are back in a big way this fall season, and a quick and inexpensive way to incorporate this latest trend into your look is by wearing a floppy felt hat. They can be dressed up or down, adding a chic finishing touch while keeping your head warm and concealing even the baddest of bad hair days. Not to mention they’re a lifesaver if a sudden sprinkling of rain appears (which never happens in Vancouver, ahem).

5. Long cardigan
Long open cardigans have been an ever present over the past few fall seasons, and continue to be popular for good reason. They’re easy to throw on top of everything, and act like a long sweater coat. They also keep you warm, while the open front means they don’t become too stuffy and can quickly be taken off if need be.

6. Sweater dress
There’s no easier way to look pulled together than wearing a sweater dress. They only take a moment to put on and show off your curves without being too clingy. Throw on a simple necklace and a pair of knee-high boots, and you’re out the door. Besides being made of wool, which can get a bit warm, sweater dresses can also come in sweatshirt material or denim for a more casual look.

When an occasion calls for denim, but jeans just won't do, wear a denim dress instead!
