The summer is unofficially over after Labor Day and before you know it, the leaves will be turning brown. You know what that means -- it's soon time to break out the old sweaters.
If you hate the fact fall is just around the corner, here's the good news -- changing seasons doesn't mean you have to tuck all your favorite summer clothes in the attic.
When Soraya Darabi and Maxine Bédat, the founders of Zady, stopped by "Real Biz with Rebecca Jarvis" to announce their new sustainable clothing label that’s dedicated entirely to timeless fashion, ABC News asked them for timeless fashion tips to dress up your old sweater, and best of all, create fall looks with your beloved beach outfits.
Here's a tip if you do plan to buy new pieces this season and want your clothes to last. It’s important to approach any purchase determining quality over quantity.
"If you're going to look for clothing that can take you through the seasons, you need to make sure these items are made with quality production, otherwise that favorite skirt or dress from the summer won’t make it to the warm days next year," Darabi told Real Biz.
Also, understand your body type, know what looks good on you and stick to the same style. Trends are constantly changing. Rather than trying to keep up with the Kardashians, you’re better off taking a page out of Kate Middleton’s playbook. The Duchess of Cambridge is known to repeat an outfit or two and she’s not afraid to wear the same pieces again and again because she knows what looks good on her.
But let's be honest, most of us can't splurge on a new wardrobe every season.
Here are six timeless fashion tips to turn your old clothes into new items for fall.
1. DON’T RETIRE THE SUMMER SUNDRESS

You can turn your sexy summer sundress into a hot fall fashion statement by simply wearing a pair of tights. If you want to make the look more modern try textured grey leggings.
But the outfit doesn't stop here. "Add your favorite boots, a relaxed blazer, and one great accessory and effortlessly, you'll be good to go in style," Darabi said.
2. DON'T PUT THAT BOYFRIEND SHIRT AWAY!

"We saw a lot of women, ourselves included, taking over-sized shirts and tying them at the waste with a pair of shorts or a full skirt," Bédat said.
Here’s what you can do, pair your shirt with dark denim, an over-sized fall jacket and those same boots that you paired with the dress.
For extra style, push up the sleeves of the jacket to show off your favorite chunky bracelets.
3. THE DISTRESSED JEANS FROM CASUAL TO COCKTAILS

This classic trend made a strong return later in the summer and it came back with a bang.
Take your favorite pair of ankle length skinny ripped jeans, or even your favorite boyfriend jeans, just cuffed a little bit, and tailor with your favorite black pumps, a collared blouse or shirt, and a perfectly fitted blazer. Instantly, this casual look is sharp for after-work cocktails.
4. YOUR FAVORITE SHORTS

Pair your tailored shorts with a pair of patterned tights, which are huge for fall this year, a slightly over-sized comfy sweater, an eye-catching necklace, and a great pair of boots— instantly fall appropriate.
5. THE OVERSIZED T

A high-quality t-shirt is essential if you want to wear it year round.
Also comfort is key. Take a loose fitting t-shirt and tie a small knot at the waste to give form to the shirt.
To dress up your look, add a lightweight statement necklace or a wraparound scarf as you see in the picture above. Pair with your favorite relaxed fitting pants with sleek heels for nighttime or for a daytime look, wear a pair of flats.
6. A SWEATER IS FOREVER

Zady’s founders believe very strongly a sweater is something people can own forever. That’s why the very first item to be made in America for the launch of their private label is a women’s knit wool sweater.
“We're launching our own line with what we hope to be the essential sweater, and then will expand to other products once we feel confident we have created an item for women to own over a lifetime,” Bédat said.
Here’s how you can make your old sweater feel new.
Layer a chunky scarf on top for a weekend casual look. Or add a statement necklace to give it a boost in the evening. If you are going for the more formal business look, try pairing your sweater with a skirt or layer with a collared shirt underneath.

Denim dresses are making their way back onto the fashion scene and we couldn't be more excited. Don't worry, they have been updated and modernized from what your mom made you wear in 1982 to look chic and stylish. Denim dresses are a great way to what a girl wants -- comfort and style.
When an occasion calls for denim, but jeans just won't do, wear a denim dress instead!

7 tips to choose THE PERFECT denim
It’s fact: A man wears his jeans through just about everything—from Super Bowl wins (or losses) and first dates to casual Fridays and hanging with his buddies. A good pair of jeans is something he can always count on. And every pair should fit like it was made just for him.

1. Don’t Worry About Your Body Type

Women may have to think about accentuating (or hiding) their curves, but men can look good in just about any denim fit. “It’s less focused around your body type and more about the end use,” says Peyrache. Instead, think about the occasion. A more classic fit lends itself to relaxed activities, while a tailored cut can be dressed up for more formal events.

2. Shop A Size Smaller Than Normal

A tight waistband can be uncomfortable—but one that’s too loose may mess up your entire look, resulting in bulk in all the wrong places. “As much as women have the tendency to wear jeans too small, guys usually wear them too big,” says Peyrache. Next time you hit the dressing room, grab a size smaller than you normally would and then once you have them on do the finger check: You shouldn’t be able to put more than two fingers in the waistband.

3. Skinny Jeans Aren’t Just For Hipsters

Most men cringe when hearing the words “skinny” and “jeans” in the same sentence. But this style isn’t just for Russell Brand or advertising art directors—the average Joe can make a tighter fitting jean work with the right cut. “A slimmer fit is more refined and sophisticated,” says Peyrache. If you’re a die-hard classic or boot-cut kind of guy, look out for a straight or slim leg, rather than skinny.

4. Check The Pockets

Too much detail can draw attention to potential “problem areas” (i.e butt or gut). Look for a clean thread pattern on pockets. Also make sure they aren’t too large or too long—these types of pockets will give the illusion you have saggy gluts.

5. Take A Stretch

Most jeans have a slight amount (usually 2%) of Lycra or elasticity to them which allows for stretch and comfort. For jeans you can wear all day, check the label for blends that include linen or elastic like spandex. It’ll give life to your slacks and allow for extra movement.

6. When In Doubt, Go Dark

Whether you wear your jeans just for kicks or late night clubbing, dark denim is a solid investment for day-to-night transition—with a swift shirt and tie change. If you only invest in one pair of jeans shoot for dark denim.

7. Dare To Experiment

Common misconception: bright colors and jean cuffing is reserved for preppy men in mansions with yachts. Not true! The warmer months are a great time to push the envelope slightly with your style. Use the beach as an excuse to roll up your jeans and throw on a pair of boat shoes—it says you’re totally ready for vacation. Own the look and the average girl will love that you took an opportunity to try something new. Plus, cuffing jeans elongates the leg, says Peyrache, so you’ll look taller and leaner.

5 Ways To Style Winter Clothes In Late Summer

Summer is usually not sweater weather, but that doesn't mean your favorite knits have to collect dust all season long. There are plenty of different ways to wear winter clothes in the summer, especially late summer. Sure, the remnants of seasonal heat and humidity are justifiable reasons to avoid any piece of clothing that might make you hot. So we usually get dressed in the lightest, most breathable pieces we own because no one wants to sweat the day away. Your favorite rainbow faux fur jacket and that cashmere sweater dress you rocked last fall shouldn't have to be neglected, though.
If I had it my way, it would be autumn all year round. I absolutely hate everything about summer weather, from the beating sun on my face to feeling like I'm perpetually walking through a sauna. I love dressing for cooler weather, so come summertime it's important to me to still reach for my sweaters. You might call me crazy and illogical, but I like experimenting with sweaters and finding creative ways to wear them sans my favorite pair of wool leggings.
In an effort to inspire your late summer style with your favorite winter wardrobe pieces, and to give you proof that you can rock wool and cashmere this August and September and still look totally cool, here are seven ways to wear your favorite winter clothing items in the summer.

1. Sweater & High-Waisted Shorts

High-waisted shorts are a staple in most people's summer wardrobe because of their modern yet retro vibes and easy-to-wear-with-anything power. That goes for styling your favorite winter sweater as well.
Even though you might be inclined to wear the sweater with a layer beneath itin case you get a bit warm, it’s best to wear it your light sweater alone this time of year. Pair it with your favorite denim shorts, and voila. The shorts balance out the long sleeves, but also make it so that you don’t burn up if you do catch some sun. Plus, doesn’t this combination just exude California cool? Throw on some dark sunglasses and a pair of strappy sandals and you’re basically an L.A. girl already.

2. Bomber Jacket & Jeans

A clothing item that has warmth to it yet is light in style can certainly be worn all year long with some extra attention — provided you get a few chilly summer nights of course.
Most of us love a good pair of jeans, and jeans almost always look fabulous with a basic combination. What gets more basic than a tank top? I always recommend a third piece, though, and for that there's nothing quite better than a beloved bomber jacket. A quilted version like mine will not only add some extra pizazz to an outfit but will also keep you warm on those cool summer nights when the breeze picks up or the rain refuses to let out. Or, you know, when the air conditioning is too cold for you.

3. Long Sleeve Shirt & Maxi Skirt

Maxi skirts, like my gray tulip version, look great with basic long sleeves with the cuffs rolled up. The skirt and the shirt mesh well instead of competing against each other. Plus, what’s more comfortable than a cotton outfit? Say no to itchy clothes this end-of-summer season.

4. Long Sleeve Button Down & Leggings

Just like shorts, leggings have become a year-round staple. No one can deny their comfort or ease, so they obviously make perfect summer pieces. Now, just pair them with the crisp button-down you usually save for cold autumn mornings and your summer ensemble is set.
The long sleeves on this blouse balance out the thin and narrow fit of the leggings. While it’s definitely a more casual combination, it can be dressed up with heels and cute personalized jewelry. The baggy fit of the blouse allows for a good amount of airiness so you don’t feel suffocated by the collar or long sleeves. Since you’re wearing leggings, you'll basically be the most comfortable human being on Earth.

5. Sweater & Mini Skirt

What I like about this sweater is the short sleeves that end near my elbows that aren’t too overbearing in the hot temperatures. Plus, it looks great and feels comfortable with this mini skirt.
A lighter, cropped sweater like this looks just as chic with more voluminous skirts as it does with fitted ones. Any skirt that gives you balance and harmony with the sweater is a pretty good go-to.
Now excuse me while I carry on my merry end-of-summer way in a brilliant fleece and short shorts. There really is no better combo.
