Every lady know that black dress, white shirt and good old jeans are something that every woman should have in her closet. But when it comes to skirts, they often tend to be neglected although they offer myriad combinations.
A lot of women don’t have any skirts at all in their wardrobe, they may think that it’s easier to just keep a few classic dresses and enough trousers on hand. However, skirts are so versatile, because they can be switched up and worn with a variety of different tops. No pair of trousers can give you the chic style that a skirt can, yet it’s sometimes hard to decide which style is the best for your body type.
If you’re looking to add some skirts to your wardrobe, these skirts are definitely where you should start. Some are perfect for your next job interview, and others are perfect for a night on the town. No matter which skirts you keep in your wardrobe, they’re sure to come in handy when you’re rushing out the door.
Pencil skirt: A pencil skirt is a wardrobe essential, it’s good to have on hand for a variety of different events. A great formal and office option, pencil skirts are usually knee-length and form fitting. The perfect combination with blazers, pencil skirts are definitely among the skirts you should own, since they can also be flattering for most body types.  You may need it for a last-minute job interview, an important speech or meeting at school, or any outing. It’s important to keep a staple that’s so simple in your closet, because you never know when you may need to wear it.
Midi skirt: A midi skirt can be paired with nearly anything, and can be worn to nearly anything, a midi skirt can be dressed up or down depending on the event you need to wear it to. It may seem a little intimidating as the length can be awkward, so it’s crucial that this skirt fits perfectly or it could overwhelm you. This piece can create an amazing line for the body and really pairs beautifully with heels to keep that line going.

Maxi skirt: The maxi skirt can be likened to stylish yoga pants and for good reason, it offers ample coverage and unrestricting flowiness, while still looking really good. This length is surprisingly versatile (tying a knot in it creates a super pretty shape) and looks amazing with crop tops.

A-line skirt: This is arguably one of the most essential pieces you can have in your closet. Similar to the little black dress, a white button down, or the perfect pair of jeans, there is an a-line skirt for everybody. Its shape is universally flattering and can be incorporated into just about any style. As the name suggests, these skirts have the shape of the letter A. Its length can vary from a mini to a maxi but the type is perhaps most commonly associated with knee-length or a bit below the knees, the classy length. The A-line skirt is a must if you work at an office with a certain dress code, these skirts are totally suitable for a girls’ night out or a date, depending, of course, on the fabric they’re made of, and the designs. For the office, a plain colour or discreet stripes and plaids is the best choice. For leisure time, you can opt for floral designs, plaits, or anything else that looks good to you. A-line skirts are not commonly seen as suitable for a formal event but, once again, that’s not a hard rule. Given the right fabric and design, you can wear anything to a formal event.

Mini skirt: If you have the legs, it would be plain wrong to abstain from wearing mini skirts. Mini is in fact quite an extensive category, including everything from tight, belt-like pieces of fabric barely covering the buttocks (an outfit for very special settings, if you catch our drift), to flowing bubble skirts, plaited ones, and tutus. Depending on the occasion, the fabric of the skirt can make all the difference, allowing you to wear a mini to a formal dinner. Satin for instance, plain and without any prints, is perfect for a formal occasion, and keep the length mid-thigh, rather than just-covering-the-crotch. One other thing about the minis is that they have a flattering effect on stubby figures, as long as your mid-section is not too plump.
